Why choose a steel kitchen?
Stainless steel has always been a favoured material in the world of kitchens. In particular steel is preferred for designer kitchens and for all high-end kitchens, those that offer the highest performance.
And it’s not difficult to understand why steel kitchens have always been so popular. Within the house, the kitchen is the item of furniture that is most used in absolute terms, the most subject to wear and tear, to impact, to the effects of heat, steam, liquids… But above all the kitchen is constantly in contact with food. For this reason, it must be made of durable and resistant materials that do not stain or absorb or release toxic substances. In practice, a kitchen that is easy to clean and sanitise.
For all these reasons, stainless steel is the number 1 material for those who consider the kitchen not only as a beautiful object to look at or show off to friends, but also and above all, a high performance instrument to be used every day. The use of stainless steel in professional kitchens and in the kitchens of the best restaurants, is clear evidence of this…
But stainless steel is more than just a functional material. It is also a symbol of timeless modernity and elegance.
When it comes to designer stainless steel kitchens, the aesthetic aspect is paramount. In fact, this material lends itself perfectly to all types of kitchens. It is perfect for contemporary kitchens, designed with minimal square lines, but also for the sophisticated elegance of classic kitchens. Its versatility makes steel the perfect element for creating charming contrasts in any domestic setting.
The charm of contrast: steel in classic and contemporary kitchens
A stainless steel kitchen can blend beautifully into all kinds of settings, even those with a more classic or elaborate style of furniture. The contrast between the brightness of steel and the warm texture of wood, natural stone or the finest marble creates a stunning visual effect.
In this context, steel acts as a focal point, adding a touch of modernity without compromising the elegance and timeless charm of the traditional kitchen.
But a stainless steel kitchen also fits perfectly into a modern home. Its clean lines and reflective shine blend seamlessly with design elements, creating an absolutely refined atmosphere.
Stainless steel finishes
Contrary to what you might believe, steel is an extremely versatile material and can take on very different colours, shades, glosses or textural effects, thanks to its finishes.
The finishes represent the final touch, which defines the aesthetics and personality of the stainless steel kitchen.
Among the various options available, the finest steel finishes and those with the most striking aesthetic effect are the hand orbitally polished, mirror-polished, lacquered and Scotch-Brite finishes.
Steel kitchen with orbitally polished finish
The orbitally polished finish is a rather long manual process. It is achieved through skilful rotational movements and gives the steel a surface with an opaque effect, warm to the eye and silky to the touch. The value of this process is to make the surface homogeneous but not uniform. Because it is a manual process, no single centimetre of surface is the same as any other, and this makes every orbitally polished kitchen a unique piece of utmost quality.
Kitchens with mirror polished finish
The mirror polished finish is achieved by a polishing process that makes the steel surface incredibly smooth and reflective, just like a mirror. This is usually achieved by a long and complex manual process. The extraordinary effect of the mirror polished steel gives the kitchen an atmosphere of great elegance and modernity.
Not only that. It also helps to make it lighter and, at the same time, to make the room brighter which makes it seem bigger. And by reflecting the surrounding space, it interacts with colours, decorations, materials and furniture, blending perfectly with the style of the home. Obviously, mirror polish finish can be applied to the structure and doors and never to the worktop, so as not to lose the exceptional intrinsic features of stainless steel.
Abimis’ mirror polished steel finish is incredibly easy to clean. You just need to wipe it with a soft damp cloth and the fingerprints disappear instantly!
Lacquered steel kitchens
If you prefer colour to the neutral tone of steel, you can choose a kitchen with a lacquered finish. Obviously, lacquering can be applied to the structure and doors and never to the worktop, so as not to lose the exceptional intrinsic features of stainless steel.
Steel kitchens with “Scotch-Brite” finish
Like the orbitally polished finish, the Scotch-Brite finish also gives the surface of the steel a satin finish with a uniform appearance.
But the result is only similar in appearance because, as the latter is obtained by mechanical processes, it cannot offer the same quality, uniqueness and value as hand orbital polishing.
Abimis stainless steel kitchen finishes
Abimis’ stainless steel kitchens are manufactured primarily in three finishes, all of which are high quality: hand orbitally polished, mirror polished and lacquered.
The company does not generally recommend the Scotch-Brite finish.
In line with the company philosophy, Abimis has deliberately chosen not to produce many finishes. It only uses those that allow kitchens to be assembled, welded and finished by hand on site, without leaving any visible joints.
This is so that even the smallest detail of every single kitchen is of the highest quality that has always distinguished the Abimis brand.
The manual orbital and mirror finish polishing processes are carried out on-site, only by experienced, specialist operators who exclusively carry out this complex work.
The mirror finish of the steel is performed mechanically, but Abimis always finishes it by hand to obtain a perfect aesthetic result and to ensure that there are no imperfections.
To make its coloured steel kitchens stronger and more durable Abimis adopts the same technique used in the automotive industry, which makes the colour more stable and resistant, even when exposed to the sun. An excellent solution, therefore, also for outdoor kitchens.
Abimis also offers the possibility to customise its kitchens with any RAL colour, according to the customer’s tastes and the style of the room.
Finally, the handles of the Ego line can also be customised in three finishes: polished steel, satin steel or brass. And one of the kitchen’s handles is always branded with the Abimis logo.
