An Abimis kitchen on Fifth Avenue

An Ego kitchen in a classic-style New York apartment overlooking Central Park

This apartment, located on Fifth Avenue within a historic skyscraper — a New York Art Deco icon overlooking Central Park — escapes the clichés of contemporary minimalism to embrace a refined classical aesthetic.
Designed by the renowned Martin Brûlé Studio, this project feels timeless, with light wood wall panelling, floors painted with ivory and anthracite stripes, bespoke wall panelling and details that speak of elegant, understated luxury.

An Abimis kitchen has been seamlessly integrated into this unique setting. Martin Brûlé chose it for its ability to combine professional technology with bespoke craftsmanship, creating a surprising dialogue with the space. It does so with a language that breaks the predominant classical scheme while simultaneously fitting perfectly into its surroundings.
Brûlé specifically selected an Ego line stainless steel kitchen orbitally polished by hand for its blend of professional technology, tailoring elegance, and adaptability to diverse settings. He then created a “tailor-made” version specifically for this home.

Three blocks, one vision

The Ego kitchen composition by Abimis is developed in three distinct elements: each with a different function, but united by the project’s consistent aesthetic.

The first block is recessed into an alcove clad in natural stone – a green-veined granite – which forms a sculptural backdrop for the washing area and the stainless steel storage elements. The same material is used for the shelf displaying the glassware and the snack top, which is supported by a granite column also visually defining the alcove.
The second element, housing the cooking area, is located on the opposite wall. Here, a high, polished mirror-finish stainless steel wall panel reflects light, amplifying the space. The block is topped by a professional stainless steel hood, a presence with discreet authority.

The third and most important block is the central island: this is the kitchen’s operational heart, featuring an integrated sink and numerous storage compartments in its base unit. The rounded flush-fit doors, with concealed hinges, an Abimis patented door system, also conceal a bespoke wine cellar.

Stainless steel and wood, an unexpected dialogue

The orbitally polished stainless steel, with its soft and slightly silky surface, reflects the warm tones of the surrounding wood without creating excessive contrast. Instead, it naturally integrates into an environment dominated by natural materials and softened hues.

The knob handles, supplied by the customer and integrated, add a retro detail that blends in seamlessly with the overall design. This once again reveals Abimis’s extraordinary ability to adapt to the most diverse customisation requests, without ever compromising the constructive and aesthetic quality of the project.

Comfort, aesthetics and customisation

This project demonstrates how a professional kitchen can extend beyond its functional purpose to become a true furnishing element, an integral part of a complex stylistic vision. It’s a kitchen that knows how to be discreet yet captivates with its essential presence and the perfection of its details.
This is another example of how Ego, while remaining true to its identity, can speak all languages of design. Even that of classicism.
