A Swiss professional couple from the tourism industry, weary of city life, chose to relocate to the green heart of Geneva’s outskirts, on the ground floor of an elegant residential complex nestled within expansive grounds. Here, they decided to create their new sanctuary: refined, functional, and surrounded by lush greenery.
Owners of a prestigious travel agency, in their move, the couple brought with them all the objects they had collected over many years of world travels. And, after selecting the furnishings, they are now beginning to arrange them within the 200 square metres of their home. Their goal is to recreate a warm atmosphere imbued with memories, telling stories of distant places without sacrificing the practicality of an environment designed for day-to-day life.
It was with this very idea in mind that one of the first choices they made for their home was a kitchen from Abimis’s Ego line. A kitchen with an island that combines design, quality, and functionality, perfectly reflecting their simple and practical lifestyle, without sacrificing beauty and life’s pleasures.
The kitchen, therefore, occupies a central position within the home. A huge floor-to-ceiling window with a sliding glass door connects it directly to the private garden, a small haven of tranquillity that comes to life in the warmer seasons. Here, under a white wisteria pergola, the couple loves to spend their free time dining al fresco and enjoying the delicate scent of the blossoms in spring.
Within the kitchen, natural light plays a fundamental role: it highlights the matt surfaces of the stainless steel which has been orbitally polished by hand of the Ego kitchen, enhancing its texture and giving it a warm, silky appearance.
The L-shaped configuration with a central island was specifically chosen to optimise space and ensure maximum fluidity of movement; essential elements for those who, like them, love to cook and have friends over for informal dinners.
The kitchen was studied with painstaking detail in partnership with the Abimis design team, to make it as organised and ergonomic as possible. The two corner blocks, which house the storage units, are topped by two steel shelves that follow their configuration and offer space to arrange green plants, containers, and everyday objects.
The central island constitutes the heart of the room: this is where the flush-mounted induction hob and the oven are fitted. With the tall refrigerator unit and the washing area directly opposite, the organisation of kitchen tasks has been facilitated, and the flow of movements is perfectly optimised.
Beyond its functionality, what truly captivated the owners was the strong and unique character of the Ego kitchen.
The couple sought to invest in a durable, high-quality product. Ego proved to be the perfect answer, thanks to its dominating and durable character and its design, which blends in seamlessly with the rest of the home, reflecting the dynamic and sophisticated lifestyle of those who live there every day.
Furthermore, the joint-free monoblock structure ensures hygiene and effortless cleaning of the stainless steel, a feature that the couple, with their keen eye for practicality, particularly appreciated.
With the kitchen complete and operational, the heart of their new home has begun to beat. Now, all that remains is to finalise the spaces with the finishing touch: their collection of memories.
