An evocative country home, located in a quiet panoramic position a stone’s throw from Varese, houses an elegant island version of Ego.

The kitchen, made to measure as always by Abimis, responds to the owners’ desire to furnish the space with a functional solution with a contemporary design, able to fit easily into the traditional setting of this rural residence.

The kitchen, like the rest of the house, maintains the features and sets off some structural elements typical of the original architecture like the stone walls, the visible bricks and the ‘robust’ wooden beams of the gabled ceiling, combining full functionality and modern comfort with a charming aesthetic impact.

The furnishing of the house is sober, without much furniture and a vintage flavour with a strong personality, alternating with unique designer items. The rooms, which are connected to each other by openings and passages, suggest a fluid sensation, like the large glass window which ‘opens up’ the kitchen towards the garden.

The design, the compact volume and the steel of the Ego kitchen emphasize the stylistic contrast between tradition and modernity which defines the entire home.

Made of AISI 304 stainless steel, Ego is presented in a ‘rational’ island version, which enables visual freedom and movement; the choice of the ‘warm’ and opaque orbital hand-polished finish gives the kitchen a strongly characteristic appearance.

In this configuration, which sees the cooking space positioned on the short side, in order to leave the worktop or support surface facing the dining area and create a sort of ‘communication’ between the two areas, Ego transforms the room into a versatile, welcoming environment for sharing, confirming its distinctive features: flush bevelled doors integrated into the structure, a recessed socle for easily accessing the whole depth of the worktop, cooking and sink area which live together on the joint-free top. The Abimis kitchen is completed by a wall column containing a fridge and freezer, provided with the same bevelled doors as the island.
