An Abimis kitchen in the Virgin Islands

An oasis of quiet, nature and beauty

In the Virgin Islands, between white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, stands this contemporary villa overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Informations

City: Isole vergini
Location: Private House
Kitchen line: Ego

It was recently purchased by an American couple with three children. The wife comes from the island and the husband from Florida, so they chose it not only to get closer to her family, but also to enjoy well-deserved moments of relaxation amidst unspoiled nature, surrounded by tranquillity, beauty and – why not? – the pleasures of good food.

Functionality and style between land and sea

The location of the villa, directly overlooking the beach, and the wild and unspoiled nature of the island have fully satisfied their ‘spiritual’ needs. But the couple also wanted to make their daily experience unique from a ‘material’ point of view. In particular, in this house where they can spend their time as they prefer, they really wanted to make the most of their great passion for cooking.

An Ego kitchen by Abimis, actually two of them

So, in agreement with the architect who led the renovations and furnishing of the villa, they chose Abimis to create not one, but two kitchens. The first, in the house; a refined, functional and super-equipped composition. And a second outdoor kitchen, perfect for outdoor dining under the starry Caribbean sky.

The reasons why they chose Abimis were a quest for high performance, combined with a clean and modern design, perfectly integrated with the style of the villa, minimal but with a refined design. The residence, immersed in a breathtaking landscape, required a kitchen that was not only a place for preparing food, but also and above all the beating heart of the house.
The choice fell on the Ego range kitchen, with its clean and rounded lines, typical of the 1950s, and made entirely of high quality stainless steel.

Indoor kitchen: the beating heart of the house

Inside the villa, the Abimis kitchen has become the focus of daily life. Located in an open and bright living space, the kitchen is composed of a central island with a Cipollino marble top, whose shades alternate between light and dark green with white stripes, recalling the sun-flooded palm fronds that separate the villa from the white beach.

The kitchen island houses both the preparation and cooking areas, with an induction hob set flush into the top. A stainless steel sink and storage bases on both sides of the island complete the layout, offering not only maximum convenience, but also a great aesthetic impact.
On the wall, a column block has been inserted into a pre-existing alcove. Here there is a fridge, two ovens, a wine cellar and a vacuum drawer.
Every single detail has been designed with a sort of ‘creative triangulation’ between the owners, who expressed their wishes; the architect, who transformed them into a design project; and Abimis, who proposed and created the best solutions to unite and optimize the needs of both.

Outdoor cooking: conviviality under the stars

To make the experience of living in the Caribbean unique, with a climate that means you can stay outdoors all year round, the villa also has an outdoor kitchen, also designed by Abimis and intended to be used in every season.
Located under a patio that overlooks the ocean (but sheltered from the wind and the elements, more frequent in the rainy season), this kitchen was designed for outdoor dinners with friends and the wife’s numerous relatives. Sociable times where passion for food meets and blends with the beauty of unspoiled nature.
The outdoor kitchen is made entirely of AISI 316 stainless steel, a material chosen for its high resistance to salt and atmospheric agents. It has been equipped with a Wolf professional grill, with refrigerated drawers and storage space for dishes.

This configuration allows the owners to have generous barbecues and sophisticated dinners outdoors too, with a professional kitchen offering the same performance level as the indoor one.

The two kitchens in the Ego range by Abimis, with their rounded, flush doors, stand out due to their functionality and essential design. The orbitally polished finish, chosen by the owners for both kitchens, offers a handcrafted touch and ‘softens’ the surfaces. Rounded ergonomic handles enhance its simplicity and elegance.

A life-changing kitchen
Thanks to the two Abimis kitchens, the owners of this villa in the Virgin Islands have transformed the way they use their house. The indoor kitchen has become the place where the family gets together on a daily basis. A place where fresh dishes are prepared with local ingredients, and where American and Caribbean cuisine are often mixed, creating new recipes. Meanwhile, the outdoor kitchen is the ideal setting for unforgettable evenings, sometimes accompanied by live music, and sometimes just by the soothing sound of the sea and the rustling of the palm leaves.
